Headwall Coaligned Rotation Stage

Overview

Designed by Karn Scientific, the Headwall Co-Aligned Rotary Stage provides ground based hyperspectral imagery at high spatial and high spectral resolution, allowing for detailed measurements of a scene’s radiometric properties. With an appropriate setup, a user can acquire details such as the reflectance signature of an object within a scene, and at a suitable distance (minimum of 10 m from the object), the effective spatial resolution is in the sub cm range. The built-in encoder ensures that the stage rotation provides exceptional angular resolution (1.4E-4°/s), ensuring the imagery is correctly resolved spatially. Combined with a spectral range between 400 nm to 2500 nm, and a spectral resolution of 2.2 nm from 400 to 1000 nm in the VNIR and 6 nm from 1000 nm to 2500 nm, the Headwall Co-Aligned Rotary Stage provides a high quality data product, ideally suited for characterisation of spatially heterogenous objects.

The rotary stage can be used under passive solar illumination, or with an appropriate indoor setup using active illumination. Ease of use is a key design feature of the Headwall Co-Aligned Rotary Stage, allowing (after training with the FSF team) for a user to feel confident operating the system independently. The in-built LiDAR can also be used to generate point clouds for further spatial information.
