After a trial period with online only applications, FSF have returned to a .doc application procedure, as it allows for much greater flexibility from applicants to attach images and content from other text applications. This will not affect your application if you have previously applied online.
These applications are considered by our steering committee twice a year, following our deadlines
on June 1st (Loans from October to February), and November 1st (loans from March
to September). Once you have submitted an application, it will be considered at the next meeting of
the steering committee. More information can be found at the FAQ and Loan Conditions pages.
This form is for all FSF equipment, with the exeption of loans only looking to borrow Spectrlon panels or targets, and short term loans.
*If you are applying to loan UAV-mounted apparatus, please complete this form along with your main application form
Our Headwall hyperspectral imager is normally only available through NERC grants, or if fully independently funded. This is different to all other loan applications. Please ensure you have read the Headwall FAQs before you send us a pre-operations form at least one month prior to your grant submission deadline to enable us to conduct a feasibility assessment on your project and provide you with a technical assessment to support your application.
For loans of field accessories and field spectrometers for pilot studies or proof of concept, please use the following application form. Applications will be considered at any time of year, but will be secondary to our regular loans. Maximum period for these loans, excluding loans of reflectance panels, is 1 month. Email fsf@nerc.ac.uk PRIOR to completing an application form to check on the availability of equipment, please note that our busy period is April - June, and so spectrometers will be unlikely to be available during these months.
Use the form below to apply for the loan of our calibrated targets and ground targets.
The world class calibration facilities of the Field Spectroscopy Facility are available to academic and research institutes in the UK and Europe for the calibration of remote sensing field spectroradiometers. These services include the system response calibration of instruments for spectral radiance and irradiance measurements and the calibration of reference panels for spectral diffuse reflectance measurements. The facility also offers a wavelength validation service for quantifying the spectroradiometer's wavelength scale errors. Our laboratory facilities can also be accessed for your own calibration/validation/intercalibration projects. This is subject to application, please email fsf@nerc.ac.uk in the first instance, and then fill in our Laboratory Access Application Form.Use the form below to apply for use of the FSF laboratory and facilities in Edinburgh.
