The NERC Field Spectroscopy Facility won Best Poster Prize at the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetric Society annual conference held at the University of Cambridge in September 2006.

Entitled 'What Does a Spectroradiometer See?' the poster outlined the initial results of an in-house research project into the uniformity and dimensions of the fields-of-view of the Facility's spectroradiometers. The research demonstrated uneven responsivity evident in both systems measured with the implication that not all components within a scene may be represented in the gross reflectance recorded. This in turn leads to poor quantification of biophysical and biochemical variables. The research highlights the need for users to consider performance and repeatability when designing field measurement campaigns.
