The field Spectroscopy Facility is located in room 243 of the Grant Institute. The Grant Institute is part of the Kings Buildings university campus which is on the southside of the city, near the Royal Observatory. Note: On entering the Grant Institute through the main double doors, take the corridor to the left at the foot of the stairs and then the first corridor to the right (signed). Follow the corridor around and you will come to the FSF.
From the City Bypass (A720), turn off at the A701 junction, follow this until you reach Mayfield Road on the left. At the Crossroads take a left onto West Mains Road, take the first left into the University of Edinburgh Kings Buildings complex (Gate 2). Once inside the Kings Buildings Complex take the first left and park in front of the Grant Institute. If no spaces are available here try parking round the back of the Grant Institute opposite the Joseph Black Building. Once you have parked you will need to collect a parking permit from the FSF office.
All trains stop at Waverly Station, which is in the centre of the city at the East end of Princess Street. From here you can catch one of the many buses from Princess Street which will take you to the Kings Buildings area. These buses are mentioned below in the local buses section.
A number of local buses travel from Princess Street to the area around Kings Buildings. These buses are the numbers 3, 3A, 8, 29, 31, 37 and 37A, you should leave the bus on Craigmillar Park. Once off the bus on Craigmillar Park follow the following directions on foot (see map).
Walk to the end of Craigmillar Park where the large road intersection is. Crossover the road and walk up Esslemont Road, at the end of Esslemont Road (at the traffic lights) cross straight over the road onto West Mains Road. Now take the first path on the left (into the University of Edinburgh Kings Buildings Complex) and immediately turn right, walk for about 200 meters and the Grant Institute is on the left.

At the airport, tram and bus services are located near the terminal building. The number 100 bus service runs every 10 minutes through the day and every 30 minutes at night, this bus will take you to Waverley Bridge, near to Waverley Train Station and Princes Street. This service takes approximately 25 minutes.
